According to latest statistics, More than 12 million cosmetic surgical and nonsurgical procedures were performed in the US alone last year and every year it is increased by one percent.

Cosmetic surgery is a subspecialty of medicine and surgery that distinctively restricts itself to the improvement of appearance, irregularity and defects through surgical and non-surgical techniques.

It is particularly concerned with preserving normal appearance or reinstates it, or enhancing it beyond the actual level toward some ideal level. It is a multi-disciplinary and comprehensive approach directed to all areas of the body.

The top five procedures were breast augmentation, nose reshaping liposuction
eyelid surgery, and tummy tuck. Statistics shows that the top five procedures among the people are botox injections, laser hair removal, hyaluronic acids, microdermabrasion, chemical peels. Middle-agers normally from 35 to 50 had the majority of procedures. The most common procedures for those 18 and under were Laser Hair Removal, Microdermabrasion, Rhinoplasty (Nosejob surgery) and Otoplasty (ear surgery)

Why consider cosmetic surgery?

It aims to change your appearance by changing parts of
your body that have normal functions but looks make you unhappy. Reconstructive surgery is different which can reinstate look and function of body parts affected by hereditary defects, injuries and diseases

It helps not only to look better, but also to feel better. Those who look for cosmetic surgery generally have an upbeat self-image, despite being oddly focused on one or more aspects of their appearance which others may or may not recognize.
Postoperative benefits include personal well being due to positive self-image and improve family and social interactions. Although no studies have convincingly proved that most people can expect dramatic enhancement in their psychological well-being, however it is logical to believe that the patients perception about them changes normally if their appearance changes.
Because the old adage may say 'face is the index of mind' but the reality is 'mind is the index of the face'

1. Don't have unrealistic expectations that it will turn you into a star overnight. Anticipate improvement and avoid dreaming about perfection. Also don't count to save a drowning relationship or improve your social interactions.
2. Don't try to have it done in the middle of a very upsetting life circumstances such as a divorce, job loss etc. it's better if you can postpone because whatever may be the final outcome you will never satisfied.
3. The surgical and non-surgical procedures may vary and your recovery rate will be higher. Returning to work or taking care of other responsibilities may take from few days to more than a month.
4. Understand the possibility of risks involved . You should be factual and you should know that it may be risky to your
health and that the outcome may not like what you expect

Possible risks:

1. Nausea, giddiness, pain Numbness and tingling sensation which may become permanent
2. An accumulation of fluid beneath the wound (seroma) and collection of blood in incision (hematoma) may happen and profuse bleeding in some patients has been reported
3. Skin breakdown is more common after cosmetic surgery caused by poor blood circulation and it happens particularly if you are a smoker
4. Infection at the site of surgery is another most common risk which may require more surgery and may leave even bigger scars. Asymmetrical or uneven appearance which may require additional surgery to correct
5. A drop in body temperature below what is required for normal metabolism (hypothermia)

And the worst possible risk is dissatisfaction of the outcome. The outcome depends of lot of factors our expectations, surgeon's skill, duration and type of surgery and our body's healing mechanism. To avoid this have a chat with your surgeon to establish realistic, measurable and possible goals before hand.

Face lifts have come a long way since the original, unnaturally tight and stretched look of early procedures. If the dramatic extent of a traditional procedure worries you, three new alternative methods that can help you achieve great, natural looking results are the liquid facelift, mid lift and the MACS lift, which stands for "minimal access cranial suspension."

Liquid:

The liquid facelift uses fillers and injectables like Botox and Restylane to target specific areas. Botox is injected directly at the sight of unwanted wrinkles and creases, paralyzing the
muscle beneath and making the skin smooth for up to eight months.

Restylane lasts longer and builds new collagen, a substance in the skin which gives it a plump, youthful appearance, and might even prevent future degeneration of remaining collagen.

Sculptra is the latest injectable filler with results lasting up to two years and studies showing that it causes the skin to produce new collagen.

One or more kinds of fillers will be injected into various problem areas. The fillers erase wrinkles in the forehead, around the eyes and mouth, and can even add volume to hollow areas of the cheeks. Often times a liquid treatment is only recommended for less severe cases.

Excessive sagging skin cannot be corrected by the use of fillers, but those with mild facial creases can expect to look younger and more refreshed, usually in just a matter of hours. Recovery time depends on the extent of the procedure, but within a few days bruising and swelling usually subsides.

Injectables and fillers are a good alternative for people who do not want to commit to a major
surgery and who are fairly satisfied with their facial appearance other than a few problem areas.

MACS:

The other alternative procedures are known as a mid lift and MACS. This is executed similarly to a traditional procedure, but the incision area is smaller, and only the middle area of the face, from the corners of the eyes to the top of the mouth, is tightened. This often gives more natural results than the traditional procedure and focuses on removing the deep creases that develop around the nose. The surgery only takes an hour and the recovery time is normally fairly short.

MACS is meant for people with mild loss of skin elasticity, generally in the mid face area. It works similarly to the traditional, except the extent of incisions and lift is far less severe, which means less scarring and less complications.

During the procedure the incision is made near the hairline and ear. Then the loose skin is pulled back and secured with permanent suspension sutures. This tightens the cheek and area around the nose and mouth, eliminating the deep creases that often develop there. It also improves the contour of the neck and jaw area.

The benefit of a MACS procedure compared to the traditional is that the recovery period is usually significantly less. Patients can be back on their feet in as little as two weeks, while traditional facelifts can take up to six weeks for full recovery.

With all of the new advancements in cosmetic surgery, it is wise to research the different methods available and the success rates of new procedures.

Not everyone is a suitable candidate for an
alternative treatment. Discuss with your surgeon the options available to you. Be sure that regardless of which procedure you choose, you're aware of all possible risks and complications.

Esca makeup is a loose mineral make up that's used by consumers who don't want to put artificial cosmetics on their face. Those who have serious allergies or skin irritations use this makeup. People who prefer to use natural substances as opposed to artificial ones, also use it.

Advantages to Using Esca Makeup

One of the greatest, most commonly talked about advantages to using this natural product is that its natural. Esca makeup is mineral based, which means it does not include harmful additives that may irritate the skin. Many users have sensitive skin that doesn't react well to artificial substances or fragrances. It works well on sensitive skin because it doesn't include these irritating items.

Another great advantage is that it gives the user a more natural look. For example, a traditional concealer can leave a cakey, unnatural look. Concealer is a skin-based color that covers the entire face. Concealer is supposed to hid skin flaws. However, if it's used incorrectly, it can make the user look like a clown. Traditional concealers are thick. It is applied by running a small sponge over the face. Because it's so thick, concealer can hide natural accents such as rosy checks. Esca makeup, on the other hand, will let pleasant natural features shine through. Using a loose powder also makes it nearly impossible to cake on too much pasty makeup that will make the user look like a clown.

When to Use It

You can really use esca cosmetics whenever you want. However, if you've recently broken out in a rash from using other products, you might want to look into it immediately. It really can prevent rashes.

You can use esca makeup for any kind of occasion. You can use it as part of your every day routine. Or, you can use it for special occasions. It helps consumers look more natural. So, if you're getting married and going for a more natural look, consider using it.

Makeup Tips is one of the leading makeup and cosmetics information resources online. We cover everything from Bobbi Brown cosmetics to bare essentials makeup.

It seems that for every type of mineral makeup there is also a different technique to apply it. Now, each company may have slight differences in their makeup that when it is applied a certain way will make it look or adhere better. However, there are some very basic guidelines to applying mineral makeup that will work with almost any brand you buy. Of course, it's always preferable that you develop your own personal style- your own touch. You know how you like your makeup to look, so practice, practice, practice until you get your application method how you like it. After all, it is your face.

Applying Foundation/ Finishing Powder

Foundation is admittedly the hardest to apply. You see some brands that say "swirl, tap, buff" and other brands that say "don't!" What are you supposed to do?

The general rule of thumb is that if a mineral makeup contains bismuth oxychloride, you'll likely have to buff it in, and buff it in well, for the makeup to look its best. Generally a kabuki brush is used with this technique.

What's A Kabuki?

Good question! It's a very densely packed brush. It gives very heavy coverage because so much more makeup is left on the bristles after you tap. It's a good option for people who want a more opaque look or need heavier coverage. Usually with a kabuki you must buff the minerals into your skin, or else you'll look streaky, emphasize your pores, etc.

Buffing techniques, usually with a kabuki, are known to irritate sensitive skin. Even women without sensitive skin have problems with irritation. Remember, it's "swirl, tap, buff."

Fluffy Brushes

Using a fluffy face brush is the other popular way to apply mineral makeup. Better quality makeup is more pigmented, so using a kabuki is out of the question for most women. But a nice fluffy brush is just the ticket since a little makeup goes a long way. Whether you choose synthetic or animal hair brushes is up to you. Both can be equally good, depending on the quality. The same basic rules apply as with the kabuki- swirl your brush in the makeup, tap off the excess and the brush in a downward motion over your face. No need to buff. If you'd like more coverage, just repeat the steps again.

"Swirl, tap, brush." Almost the same words, but incredibly different effects.

Applying Foundation Wet

Wet? Yup. There are some gals who prefer the finish when mineral makeup is applied wet. There are a couple of ways to do it.

With A Brush- Mix your foundation and some water/moisturizer/lotion, etc. until a creamy consistency. Then dip your brush in it and apply in a downward motion. It will dry to a soft powder.

With A Puff/Sponge- You can either dampen your puff or sponge and dip it into your foundation and apply in a downward motion or mix the foundation with water/moisturizer/lotion and apply with a sponge. It will dry to a soft powder.

Finally, you can apply your foundation dry, then mist with a hydrosol or something similar and either use a brush or a sponge to smooth the moisture into the powder. Be sure to use a downward motion. Some gals even like to layer their makeup this way. Powder, mist, smooth. Powder, mist, smooth.

Why The Downward Motion?

Good question. Your pores and facial fuzz lay that way naturally. When you smooth your makeup that direction it makes a more "natural" look.

Other Facial Applications

For your other color cosmetics applied to face, here are the general outlines.

Concealor- Using a taklon concealor brush or an all-over eyeshadow brush, dip it into the concealor or foundation you're using, tap off most of the excess and apply directly to the area you want to conceal. Blend very, very well. If you're using an all over concealor, complexion enhancer, finishing powder, etc. use a fluffy face brush and swirl, tap and brush lightly in a downward motion.

Blush- Swirl, tap, brush in a slight curve from the apple of your cheek to your hairline. A nice fluffy blush brush works best.

Eyeshadow/ Eyeliner Application

This is the really fun stuff. You can apply mineral makeup wet or dry. Applying it wet is called "foiling" and makes the colors more bold and can even change them slightly in some cases.

For regular application, simply dip your brush into the color, tap off the excess and apply like you normally would.

For foiling, mix some minerals with water, hydrosol, eye primer, etc. until a creamy consistency. Then apply as you normally would. When dry you can buff with a dry brush to blend (but this may cause some of the mica to come away).

The foiling method works very well for eye lining. Colors that might be too bold to wear on your eye make great liner colors. Foiling them will help them last longer and show up better.

And that's it! These basic tips should help you apply mineral make up like a pro. Play around with it, develop your own style and technique, and most of all...Have Fun!

We all don't have the "perfect" facial structure. That's why we need face shape makeup tips. These tips will help each of us apply makeup to bring out our best features and minimize the ones that we don't like so much. So, whatever your question is about your facial shape or facial features, we've got a makeup tip to help you.

The Tools

First, it's important to realize what tools you'll be using. We'll make use of color correcting correctors. Light color correctors can dramatically change your appearance. For instance, mauve or light pink corrector can brighten and conceal dull skin tones. Pale green is used to correct ruddiness. Light yellow corrects under eye circles and other purplish/blue discolorations.

These light colors can help improve facial features by lengthening, filling out and brightening skin. Dark colors will reduce, deepen, darken and conceal features and discolorations. Using a mixture of light and dark correctors (foundations) you can create almost any illusion you like.

The key is to blend, blend, blend. If you are using any corrector, whether it's a color or a foundation that is darker or lighter than what you usually wear, always remember to apply with a light hand and blend well. The light foundation corrector should be only 1 or 2 shades lighter and the dark foundation corrector should be no more than 2 shades darker than your usual color.

Face Shape Makeup Tips

Find your face shape makeup tips below.

  • Oval: This is the "ideal" facial shape. With the use of dark and light correctors every facial shape can be made to resemble an oval facial shape. Oval faces can need darker foundation applied at the forehead and chin to make it less severely oval.
  • Trapezoidal: This facial shape requires refining the lower part of the face with a darker corrector while also using a light corrector at the temple. This will bring the face in, making it more narrow and longer.
  • Rectangular or Square: Correct both of these shapes with darker foundation at the four corners. This redefines the corners into more of a curve, giving it a whole new dimension.
  • Triangular: The triangular face needs darker foundation at the chin, making it appear shorter, and at the temples, bringing the focus towards the middle of the face. Using light foundation along the jawline will give it more balance and depth.
  • Round: Round faces need only a little darker foundation applied at the temples and around the lower face. This will make it appear a little more elongated.Balancing Your Features

Face shape makeup tips also include your facial features. If you've got a feature you're not too fond of, like your nose or chin, playing with light and dark correctors can help you adjust how they look. We'll give you the makeup artist's tips on how to do this.

  • Prominent Chin: Correct this by applying a little darker foundation right on the tip of your chin, and blend well.
  • Double Chin: If you have a double chin, blend a darker foundation right on the double chin.
  • Long Nose: Think your nose is too long? Apply dark foundation right on the tip and blend well to make it appear shorter.
  • Broad Nose: Broad noses are easily adjusted with dark foundation applied down each side of the nose.
  • Short Nose: Short noses need a light application of light foundation along the whole top of the nose. This will give it a less defined edge and help it to appear less short.
  • Narrow Nose: Widen a narrow nose by applying a light foundation down each side of the nose.
  • Crooked Nose: A crooked nose is the hardest. Apply dark foundation on the crooked side to minimize it, and then apply light foundation on the opposite side.

These tips will help you achieve a balance to your features. Face shape makeup tips are some of the most useful tips you can have. With them you can look your very best while still looking like you.

A face lift is a cosmetic surgical procedure that rejuvenates appearance through tightening the muscles around the face and removing excess tissue. The procedure is based on an individualized treatment plan that may require more than one session. Much of the success with face lift surgery depends on your willingness to follow specific instructions from an experienced cosmetic surgeon. Review the following guidelines on how to prepare for the day of your face lift procedure.

Prepare for Your Face Lift Procedure With a Consultation

The first step to preparing for your face lift procedure is through a consultation with a cosmetic surgeon. The consultation is an opportunity to communicate current dissatisfaction with your appearance and expectations for surgery. The
doctor will describe realistic results regarding what can be achieved through a face lift. Other procedures may be recommended to enhance results, such as a neck lift or forehead lift.

During the consultation, a thorough examination of your health, including an assessment of your medical history is required. The doctor will discuss the risks associated with a face lift. Alternatives to face lift surgery may be suggested where appropriate. The cost of the face lift will also be addressed, including financing options.

Verify the Surgeon’s Experience Before Your Face Lift Procedure

Before you agree to any surgery, it’s important to learn the qualifications of the doctor. Ask the cosmetic surgeon for credentials, including education and board certification. Look for certification from an accredited organization, such as the American Society of
Plastic Surgery. Inquire into years of experience and the frequency with which your plastic surgeon has performed face lifts.

Prepare for the Day of your Face Lift Procedure Weeks in Advance

Your cosmetic surgeon will provide detailed instructions for how to prepare for the day of your face lift. You play an important part in the success and speedy recovery from a face lift. Be sure to follow all directions in detail.

Prior to your face lift surgery, avoid medications that thin the blood, including aspirin. Smoking is prohibited at least two weeks before and after the procedure. You may also need to take certain medications or vitamin supplements.

Recovery from a face lift procedure requires plenty of rest during the first week. Take care of obligations before the day of your surgery. The doctor may recommend that you let short hair grow to conceal surgical incisions while they heal.

The Day Before Your Face Lift Procedure

Make arrangements with a friend or relative to escort you home from your face lift surgery. If possible, find someone who can assist you for the first day or two. A helping hand prevents the possibility of overexertion during the crucial post-operative recovery period.

Prevent infection and clean your hair really well. Avoid any alcohol the night before your face lift procedure. Be sure to get plenty of rest.

The Day of Your Face Lift Surgery

A face lift procedure can take up to four hours, during which you will receive either a general anesthesia, or local accompanied by a sedative. Following surgery, you will be transferred to a recovery room. In some cases, patients may be required to stay overnight. Otherwise, you can return home with a packet of detailed postoperative instructions.

Recovery From your Face Lift Surgery

Get plenty of rest and follow the instructions from your cosmetic surgeon. Recovery from a face lift requires that you refrain from strenuous activity for at least two weeks. Within roughly ten days, you should be able to resume most normal activities.

The aforementioned guidelines should not substitute for a consultation with a cosmetic surgeon. To get the full scope on how to prepare for the day of your face lift, schedule an appointment with a qualified plastic surgeon. Refer to DocShop.com for help locating a doctor.

Real cosmetic surgery is one of the quickest growing branches of modern day medicine. Cosmetic surgeons have become busier since more and more people are opting for elective surgery. Cosmetic surgery is all about how you look at yourself. Dental procedures and many reconstructive procedures also fall in this category. Cosmetic surgery is now common in both women and men.

Since the price on cosmetic surgery has come down, many people are making a vacation out of it, where they take a week off and fly to the
doctor that will perform the surgery. Since cosmetic surgery is not often covered by your insurance, the cost of the procedure can be one of largest selling points. When your health is involved, it's best not to cut corners, if you would pardon the pun, and not substitute a quality procedure for cost.

What are different types of collagen? The tissue of cows is used to create bovine collagen, this type of collagen is very compatible with humans. Collagen injections are all-purpose fillers to fix problems on the face. Collagen is filled into the areas that need plumping-up.

Botox is popular for those people who want to get rid of frown lines, crows feet and any other kind or wrinkle, this is non-surgical and is accomplished by injections. Botox is also an extremely popular cosmetic surgery method. It has become increasingly popular over the past decade in the cosmetic surgery field. Botox is a natural protein that is produced by a bacterium. Because Botox is a prescription drug, it must be used carefully.

When people get
eyelid surgery they usually do this to get rid of excess skin and skin that is damaged by the sun. Many people have those problem eye bags that need to be tightened up or removed so this is a popular surgery. It is popular for doctors to perform procedures on the eyelids, tear ducts and eye sockets for those who are inflicted with certain diseases.

To remove your eye bags whilst lifting your face is only a matter of more time for the surgeon. By getting surgery on your face by improving muscle tone you can reduce the number of years off of your face. The muscles of the face and the fat are all lifted up and moved to when the skin drapes over them it gives a more youthful appearance. The bruising can fade in around two weeks, while the swelling could last a bit longer. After surgery the skin will heal and there will be very few irregularities and the skin will feel much smoother.

Some people refer to cosmetic surgery as the fountain of youth; this is not exactly right because cosmetic only changes the outward appearance. When receiving a procedure you need to consider the reputation of the surgeon, understanding the cost of the operation and if the surgery is worth the risks associated with it. Many people are receiving cosmetic surgery, it is not only for the rich anymore. The charm of youth and beauty has attracted us for ages. Cosmetic surgery is not about how other people look at you.

A hundred years have passed since the first face lift was performed. Surprised? Face lifts are still the most popular cosmetic
surgeries that people rush into at the first mention of aging symptoms. A wrinkle here, an extra fold of the skin there, and a face lift remains the only solution for most.

The signs of old age are a depressing fact for many people. As the skins stretches and loses its youthful elasticity, as the muscles begin to sag and fat deposits make the face look baggy and wrinkly, many are appalled at the sight of their faces. After a face lift shows positive results, these same people are happy again because of the youthful appearance masking their age. Confidence returns in all glory as people feel happier about the way they look.

Tightening and stretching the skin, however, is not all that comprises a face or neck lift. Good cosmetic surgeons attempt to make the face look naturally young, rather than just tightening the loose skin. Their objective is to give their patients a natural appearance of youth and not a mere pretence. To this effect, the may remove, add or reposition tissues on the face, changing its tissue structure. The areas on the face where these changes are most noticeable are the jowls, the neck and the lower part of the face.

Miracles are not real

A face lift doesn’t give you a new face, or your youth back. There are limitations to what a surgical procedure can or cannot do and it is important to know these facts before deciding on surgery. A face or neck lift can tighten the loose skin on the face or neck area and doctors can replace and reposition fatty tissue to reduce the baggy folds of sagging skin. Face lifts do not miraculously make wrinkles disappear. To rectify sunken features, fat filler have to be done since simple lifts don’t address such issues.

The right time for a face or neck lift

Ideally, the procedure shows maximum results when it is carried out at an age when the signs of aging have made their first appearance and advanced years haven’t taken their complete toll yet. At such a time the surgeon will find it easier to give you a superstar look, but it will not be so later the longer you wait.

The right number for the right face

Many patients are often not satisfied with a single surgical procedure to lift their sagging skin and go in for multiple surgeries. Others may wait for upto twelve years for age to catch up with them before they decide on another lift.

It is best to have a frank discussion with your surgeon about your expectations from the procedure. He is the person best placed to answer all your queries and advise you on what is good for your skin and your health.

Blemishes and acne are the most universal skin care complaints and can be a huge source of embarrassment. Pimples or more correctly acne, can quickly ruin a person's self-image, but there are simple solutions to this problem.

Pimples usually first start appearing in our early teens, when puberty begins and our bodies are undergoing strange transformations of concentrated hormones. As impossible as it may seem at times, pimples are very easy to control without drugs and using all natural methods. To avoid aggravating pimples, stay away from harsh soaps and fragrances.

Anyone that is interested in how to get rid of pimples should truly speak with a dermatologist for all of their skin care needs. Good Skin Care is vital for healthy skin and eliminating pimples.

The reasons behind many skin problems are generally related to clogged pores and bacteria. Cleaning of day's make-up at night, before going to bed, is very important because make-up particles block the pores and prevent them from breathing freely.

You must allow your skin to breathe and as we know some greasy cosmetics / especially heavy foundations/ clog the pores and don̢۪t allow your skin to breathe normally which often leads to an infection.

It's essential that you avoid putting any more oil onto the surface of your skin than is absolutely necessary, so opt for oil-free skin care products. The most important thing with using quality skin care, is to do it twice a day.

Make sure that all of your skincare products and makeup cosmetics are non comedogenic and non acnegenic which means that they won̢۪t clog your pores, and cause more breakouts.

Wash your face twice a day with antibacterial soap, three times a day for acne prone skin. Wash your hands frequently and make a conscious effort to avoid touching your face during the daytime hours.

If you have oily skin all over your face, use a cleanser that contains benzol peroxide or salicylic acid. After you are done washing your face either apply cold water to your face with a washcloth, or apply vitamin E oil, and then apply a cold washcloth. Make sure and keep anything that touches your face clean.

Because skin care is applied to your face usually everyday, you should make sure it is right for your skin, otherwise you could be applying stuff to your face that is clogging up your pores and leaving a layer of excess oil on your face daily

Take the time for preventive maintenance or your pimples will return with a vengeance. If you're experiencing one of those painful "under the skin, cystic" pimples, put a warm compress on it to drain it first, then dry it up with benzol peroxide.

Although some people are confused about how to get rid of pimples and take back their clear skin, it's really just a matter of identifying the remedy that performs best for you. Be most conscientious in following your daily skin care routine.

In today̢۪s world of too much pollution, adulterated foods and impure things, it is very necessary to take proper care of your skin, since prevention is always better than cure.

Tips:Avoid squeezing a pimples doing so may cause infection and scarring. Establish a strict skincare regime to prevent breakouts. It can take up to a 4 week for a pimple to disappear completely. Make sure you drink plenty of water throughout the day.

The main method used by dermatologists for unclogging and opening pores is through proper exfoliation. The exfoliation encourages a newer, smoother skin surface by helping to unclog pores, prevent further breakouts and diminish blemishes and pigmentation spots.

Taking care of your skin may be a priority to you, or just something you do in passing. When you pick out a face cleanser or cream, you may look for the right type of cream for your skin, or you may look for one that costs less. No matter how important you consider your skincare routine to be, there are some thing you should always consider.

Some of the things that are put into products with the promise of giving you younger looking, healthier skin are actually detrimental to having healthy skin. Cleansers that contain alcohols, for instance, don̢۪t just remove excess oils. They remove too much oil and cause irritation. This can actually lead to breakouts instead of helping prevent them.

Many products have fragrance added to them. Chances are, no one has ever come up to you and smelled your face cream. You probably don̢۪t smell it again after you apply it, either. There is simply no reason to add fragrance to a skincare product. Fragrances are the number one cause of allergic reactions that people have to skincare products.

Parabens are also added to many products unnecessarily. These are a group of chemical preservatives that are widely used in cosmetics, cleansers, and other skincare products. They are even added to some foods. Although they do occur naturally in some plant sources, parabens used in commercial products are produced synthetically in a lab.

Parabens are inexpensive and have never been proven to be harmful. However, their use in these products is coming into question. Parabens have been found in tumors in breast tissue. Since parabens are used in some deodorants, it is arguable that they could have found their way from the underarm to the breast tissue and have played a part in the development of the tumors.

There are other natural ingredients which may be used just as effectively as a preservative. Grape seed oil is one that is commonly used. It has never been scientifically proven as a preservative, but is has been used for years without complications having been reported. It is always better to play it safe and use paraben free face care for you skin. Since natural products don̢۪t usually have parabens, alcohols, or fragrances, then these products should be at the top of your list.

Paraben free lotions and creams are also available for head to toe care. No matter where you use a product, you want to use one that has the healthiest ingredients for your skincare.

If cost is a big concern, don̢۪t let it be. You certainly get what you pay for with skincare when you buy products off the shelf at the discount store. You don̢۪t have to pay exorbitant prices for good products although you will probably have to pay a little more. It̢۪s worth the investment in the long run since you only get one chance to take care of your skin.

Facial moisturizers are essential to the well being and smoothness of our faces, and there are a variety to choose from. You may want something to put on at night and sleep in or something to go under your makeup. Whenever or however you use a moisturizer, you need to choose one that is right for your skin type and for you.

There are a lot of over the counter moisturizers that have a lot of ingredients promising to deliver younger looking skin. They also tend to have a lot of chemicals and preservatives added to them which may not be the best ingredients for your skin.

One of these ingredients is parabens. These are chemical preservatives that have been used in cosmetics, skincare items, and even in foods for many years. Although they have been considered safe enough to consume, they are now being called into question. Parabens mimic the hormone Estrogen in your body and binds to Estrogen receptors. Parabens have been found in breast tumors and have been thought to lead to problems in the development of the male reproductive system.

Although a few studies have been performed that concluded the possibility of detrimental effects from parabens, they have not been scientifically conclusive. It is thought that when you put a product on your skin that contains parabens, then it finds its way through the skin to the tissue inside and may lead to cancer. If that is the case, then you can imagine what harm may be possible when you put a moisturizer on your face containing this ingredient and let it soak into your skin all day or all night. When you faithfully apply your moisturizer, then you have almost constant exposure to this ingredient.

Using paraben free facial moisturizers makes much more sense. There are other ingredients that can be used as preservatives in your skincare products that are just as effective and hold no potential risk to your health. These products are natural, or organic products made from ingredients that have had no chemicals used for their growth or in their processing. These products are also less likely to produce reactions in nearly everyone who uses them.

Since it has been determined that parabens used in products that are on the hands of those who have prepared food have been passed on to the people who have eaten the food, paraben free hand cream is also a good idea. If you can â€Å“spread” paraben to others in this manner, then you can spread it to your family through their food preparation.

You should be able to use a facial moisturizer that you feel good about and which has not been linked to any serious health problems. By using paraben free facial moisturizers any time you need them, you can feel good about what you are doing for your skin as well as for your health.

You love looking glamorous, and that includes wearing makeup designed to make you look gorgeous. But when that makeup causes your skin to break out in an itchy rash, it kind of defeats the purpose. One way that those with skin allergies can reach their beauty mark is to use mineral makeup. Mineral cosmetics are safe cosmetics that are both allergen and toxin free, and are part of a growing line of safe personal care products available for you to enjoy.

Makeup ingredients, even though they may be listed as "natural" or plant based, can nevertheless be allergens that can cause the skin to be itchy and even swell. Mineral makeup takes the guesswork out of cosmetic shopping, because they do not include a long list of ingredients, several of which may cause skin flareups. Instead, they do not include any toxic or irritating ingredients because they are chemical free cosmetics.

Many popular cosmetics contain fragrances. This is a major problem for people who are allergic to perfumes. It is no fun to have your eyes tearing up and the skin puffing up around your eyes, and this is a common reaction by those with fragrance sensitivities. Mineral cosmetics are safe cosmetics to use on the face and especially around the eyes because they do not contain any fragrances.

Salicylates are another problem ingredient. Found in many personal care products, including lotions, shampoos and makeup, salicylates cause itchy, red skin for those who are allergic to them. Even though they come from plants, salicylates can cause uncomfortable reactions in individuals with these sensitivities. Mineral makeup is part of a line of chemical free cosmetics that are absent of even plant products that can cause allergic reactions in many individuals, including salicylates.

If mineral makeup is new for you, you may wish to try a mineral makeup kit. Mineral cosmetics offer excellent coverage as well as superior sun protection, because some of the minerals used create an effective sunscreen. A mineral makeup kit includes products that will not clog your pores, but are instead light and natural looking.

Mineral makeup comes in a full line of products. You can select from concealers, foundation, powder, highlighter and blush for the face. Eye makeup includes eye shadows, mascara and eyeliner. Lips look great in mineral lipstick, lip liner and gloss. Brushes and applicators designed for use with loose minerals are useful so that the makeup looks its best on your face, including concealer and blush brushes, as well as retractable lip brushes. Minerals used as makeup are products that even people with sensitive skin can use with pleasure.

Around 4000 BC, ancient Romans and Greeks used cosmetics that often contained poisonous lead and mercury. In the middle ages in the western world, the upper classes used cosmetics. Nowadays, cosmetics are safe and anyone can use them. People want to look their best every day and cosmetics certainly help because cosmetics and makeup can hide small imperfections while still allowing their natural beauty to shine. Some women use the same old favorite lotions and creams they always have while others spend hundreds of dollars monthly looking for miracle cosmetics that turn back time and make them look twenty years younger. The first consideration of anyone that wants beautiful, healthy looking skin is cleansing his or her face properly using the correct products. Always buy cleansers made specifically for your particular skin type as some people have combination skin, while others have dry or oily skin. You should never use soap on your face regardless of your skin type. Most soap, even specialty brands, contains perfumes, detergents, and other ingredients that can irritate your skin and upset your facial skins acidic balance and it does not remove cosmetics such as mascara properly.

Lotions, milks, and cream cosmetics are ideal for removing makeup along with cleansing the skin and are available for all skin types. The oil content in skin cleansing products dissolves dirt but does not leave damaging residue behind. Skin creams you apply and remove using a cotton ball or tissues are excellent for dry skin because they do leave moisturizer on the skin. Cleansing wipes remove grime and makeup quickly and conveniently with ones made specifically for people with sensitive skin. After using cleansing cosmetics, use a toner to remove any traces of dirt, makeup, or the cleanser. Toners have an astringent effect because they contain alcohol but if your face feels tight or dry after using the toner, switch to a gentler one. Dry skin toners contain very little alcohol while oily skin toners contain the most.

Moisturizing plays such an important part in having soft, healthy skin. Regardless of your skin type, whether dry, oily, or a combination, it requires moisturizer. Moisturizers are cosmetics designed to replace and prevent skin moisture loss due to environmental causes such as pollution, the cold, and sun. Always use moisturizing cosmetics that contain a sunscreen or UV filter to protect your skin from the damaging rays of the sun. Put sunscreen on all parts of the body exposed to sunlight, not just your face. Drink from eight to ten glasses of water daily along with using moisturizing cosmetics to keep your skin looking fresh and younger.

ME?

My BIGGEST addiction is makeup!

I just LOVE going to the makeup counters and looking at all the new products, having the artists create a new look for me when I'm going out with my girls on the town, or splurging (SHHH! Don't tell my hubby!)

But when it comes to makeup for your wedding it becomes quite intimidating!

You want to be a "vision in white" not, "pasty in white" or even worse... "trashy in white!"

YIKES!

Create a look that is going to make your hubby-to-be exclaim...VA VA VA VOOM!!!

Here Are My Top 10 Makeup MUST HAVES For Your Wedding:

The Secret of the Stars... Mineral Makeup

Check out this genius product out at a Laura Mercier counter. Mineral makeup simply sweeps onto your face and gives you a fantastic natural glow (along with GREAT coverage!) It makes the skin look stunning because the minerals reflect light off the skin like millions of little mirrors. You'll look flawless in your wedding photos! This product is known for photographing very well.

Dramatic, Sultry, Ooo Laa Laa Lashes

It is so decadent to wear false eyelashes. When I was in the Miss Canadian Universe Pageant (YES, I was a pageant babe at one point in my life!) all the girls from around Canada just swore by false eyelashes! They made our eyes POP when we were on stage. They will do the same for you! (And it won't cost you an arm and a leg) Cosmetics website E.L.F (Eyes.Lips.Face. Cosmetics) has their Dramatic Lash Kit on sale for only $1!! (When applying these make sure the center of the lash is right at your pupil)

Bring On the Babelicious Bronzer

It would be horrifying to hear that your guests were calling you "Casper, the friendly ghost bride" at your wedding! We all need a little help in the pigment department sometimes (at least you do if you're as fair skinned as I am!). I suggest that you start experimenting with a bronzer so you know what works for you BEFORE the wedding! You've all seen starlets like Jessica Simpson and Charlize Theron go self tanner crazy before a red carpet event. You don't want to be an ORANGE bride!! Bronzer is a nice (non-permanent) way to give you a great bridal glow. Try E.L.F's Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder for only a $1!

Luscious Red Lips

Your perfect pout should have a tinge of red this season. It was THE HOT COLOR at New York Fashion Week! And think of the contrast with your white bridal gown... WOW! You will be stunning. But let me warn you to PROCEED WITH CAUTION! Red lipstick is SCARY! It's the stuff you snuck out of your Mom's makeup bag and went crazy with when you were 5! (You probably remember her scrubbing it off you!) There are sooo many shades of red that you really want to get it right when it comes to your wedding look. This is definitely a reason to visit the beauty department for a color test!

Coverage for All Your Little Stresses

Sorry to tell you this sweetie but you'll probably be stressed out right before your wedding. The worst part? It might start to show on your skin! Now that would be a real shame. That's why you should invest in the cover up the pros use (me included!). It's Laura Mercier's Secret Camouflage concealer. I'm not the only one who believes in the magic of this concealer, it was featured in the Fall 2007 edition of InStyle Weddings. That means another visit to the makeup counter to pick up this little gem... oh darn!

Protection from the Hot Hot Sun

You can only hope that the gorgeous sunshine is a guest on your wedding day. But when you're outside smiling for the cameras you need to make sure that you are protected against its harmful rays. Walking into your reception radiating instead of radiant is not the look you're going for. Becoming a blotchy, sun burnt bride is totally avoidable! I just love Kiehls Vital Sun Protection Lotion in SPF 15, 30 or even 40!

Plump, Kissable Lips

So you're going for the sultry siren lips with the perfect shade of rouge. But you want your lips to be EXTRA kissable on your wedding day. Try a lip plumper! I had one of my girlfriends try mine the other day after we had lunch and she actually called me an hour later wanting to know what it was called and where I got it! Well, I'm going to tell you... It's LipFusion Micro-Injected Collagen Lip Plump. It's the only lip plumper that puts actual collagen into your lips... with NO NEEDLES! It doesn't sting or burn. Tons of Hollywood celebs (like Desperate Housewives' Marcia Cross, One Tree Hill's Sophia Bush and Gossip Girl's Blake Lively) are jumping on the Lip Fusion bandwagon. You can too!!

Dewy Fresh Cheeks

I was on the hunt for a new blush the other day and I visited the Bobbi Brown counter and discovered her award winning Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks. It was featured in the September 2007 editions of both Marie Claire and Allure magazines. It's a cream-based formula that you dot on your cheeks for a sheer, stained finish. I just love how soft and feminine you look when you put it on.

Magical Metallics

Something else I discovered at Bobbi Brown is her new line of Metallic eye shadows. In the picture I have displayed the model is wearing the limited edition Midnight Metallics. These palettes feature a NEW line of velvety, shimmering shadows. Each palette has three shadows in them. When combined they certainly ignite to make your eyes sparkle! You Shimmer on the Dance Floor - I think it is damn sexy to add a little shimmer to your décolleté (that's the neckline of your dress that exposes "the girls"). Don't go CRAZY though!! You want to be classy NOT trashy. (Evil looks from your Mother-In- Law can be saved for AFTER the wedding day!) But it is perfectly acceptable to add a little shine to your exposed skin... especially once the lights dim and the reception gets underway. I'll bet he can hardly wait to get the honeymoon started! Bobbi Brown's Shimmer Brick Compactsts are perfect for giving your skin an elegant moon kissed glow.

WOW Ladies! I can't believe I just shared my Top 10 Bridal Beauty Secrets with you!

Deciding what makeup to use in summer need not be a difficult process. You simply have to get mineral makeup such as ColorScience or other cosmetics which do not contain talc. Heidi Schulze, who is a makeup artist at the Michael Kemper Salon, says that melting makeup is something her clients often complain about, and she invariably suggests ColorScience products to them. These products are sold at the salon as their finish is not like a mask and it is also water-resistant. ColorScience makeup lasts for about ten hours.

Schulze also says that an oil-free tinted moisturizer for color will also double as sunscreen. Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer (available at Neiman Marcus, Sephora, Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom) is a favorite of several makeup artists, as are tinted moisturizers by Murad (available at Michael Kemper Salon) and Trish McEvoy (available at Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue). Cheeks tend to look pink in summer anyway due to the heat, but Schulze says that using a light gel brush will provide a slight color. Tart and Benefit are sold at Sephora and they are not greasy, but provide a flushed look. Mineral makeup is a great alternative if you are wearing blush.

You should remember that lips need protection from the sun too. It is best to apply a moisturizing lip balm and then to apply gloss on that. There are plenty of options available, and you can select the ones you like best.

Mineral makeup is natural and it is certainly the best makeup you can use in summer. It became a rage in Hollywood and the rest of the US a few years ago, but a lot of women still do not understand how wonderful mineral makeup is for summer months. Mineral makeup is made from natural ingredients, the two main ones being zinc oxide and titanium dioxide.

Titanium dioxide is a waterproof, light mineral which is ground into a very fine powder and is the principal ingredient in the makeup. As it lies lightly on the skin, its tiny plates cover the pores of the skin and protect them from bacteria-feeding moisture. This is the reason dermatologists all over the world call mineral makeup 'acne fighting makeup'. Titanium dioxide is also not absorbable in water, and it can thus be applied when going to the pool or beach because it is waterproof and will maintain the flawless complexion. You will be able to swim and play at the beach while maintaining the finished look the makeup had when you first put it on in the morning.

Mineral makeup will not run down your face when you sweat because it is waterproof and will not be absorbed by the sweat on your face. This makes it perfect for many summer sports such as horse riding, mountain biking, hiking, etc.

Zinc oxide, which is the other main ingredient, is a natural sunscreen which is used in sun protections products all over the world. Thus, zinc oxide makes mineral makeup the perfect sunscreen, and the SPF is 25. You can wear extra sunscreen under the makeup for additional sun protection in summer.

Mineral makeup will not harm your skin if you keep it on for a long time, and you can even leave it on overnight if you have a busy morning ahead of you. Using mineral makeup will make your skin healthier.

Thus, in a nutshell, mineral makeup is a natural way to fight acne, protect your skin from the sun, and have great looking skin, and it is also waterproof which makes it excellent for summer sports.

Permanent makeup, also called permanent cosmetics, is a very popular alternative to applying makeup every day, which many people dread. Not only does applying makeup properly take up precious time, it often requires touch ups during the day because the makeup fades or smudges. Irreversible cosmetics are an excellent, flawless alternative for people allergic to makeup or with other medical problems such as vision problems, scars and burns, contact lenses, or motor skill problems, and is a makeup technique using tattoos to apply permanent pigment to a person's skin.

Some of the most common procedures are full lip color, lip liner, eyebrows, cheek blush, eye shadow and eyeliner. Names other than permanent cosmetics include cosmetic tattooing, micro-pigmentation, and derma-pigmentation. The pigments used in the inks and the inks of the makeup must meet the same regulations as makeup and color additives. Many athletes that compete in triathlons or sports such as long distance running, swimming, and bicycling, want to look great at the end of the event and this is a way to do that. Often, the "tattoos" gradually fade over the years so it is sometimes necessary to have them touched up to maintain vivid results.

Applications for the lips create colorful, defined, fuller lips. Lip liner adds definition, symmetry, while full lip tattoos create more colorful, full lips. Lip liner and color can define a faded out natural lip line due to smoking or aging. On the eyebrows, they help people with hair loss problems or add color to eyebrows that are white, very light colored or difficult to see. You can choose a soft penciled in look or hair strokes that look natural and simulate hair. Lash enhancement for the eyes makes your eyelashes look fuller without making it look like you are wearing eyeliner.

Some people choose permanent cosmetics as an alternative to plastic surgery because they want changes made to their appearance such as reshaped brows, eyes that appear wide open, or larger, more defined lips. Tattoo makeup requires a shorter healing time and is less painful but just as lasting as plastic surgery. If you are interested in permanent cosmetics, become an educated consumer and find out everything possible about the procedure. Make sure the tattoo artist has the necessary qualifications and licenses, ask for references, look at photos of healed clients, and be sure their establishment is spotless, sanitary, with up to date equipment. In addition, look for the best deal by shopping around because there is a wide range of prices between permanent cosmetics tattoo artists.
